Women's London 5K Run

I DID IT!!!!!

After months and months of training, well about 20 days in total, I have finally managed to get this day over and done with. I really didn't think I would be able to run the whole 5K, but I did! Thank God the weather was cloudy and rainy. It was nice to have the rain to cool me down.

I just wanted to thank everbody for their support and sponsorship. I have raised a wopping £370! I couldn't believe it. Thank you all.

Right, I am going to go and relax now.

Suzxx

Right, here I go...

Who I am running for??

Doing my streches! I know, I don't look very athletic...

Go, Go, Go!!!

I think I might have needed the Emergency Support Services!!

Hurrah, I did it!!!

Verbier Skiing Trip

How wonderful to see the beautiful Alps again! Have missed them!

I went to Verbier for a few days with work. It was a wonderful break and the weather was wonderful, although it had not been snowing that much. I think the more experienced skiers among us weren't too pleased about the amount of snow, but it was nice all the same.

I have never skied in my life, and so had a beginner lesson with Eric (a newbie, like me!). It was for 3 hours, but managed 2.5 only! We were totally shattered and it was HOT!!!! The beginner slopes were very icy, and so skiing was fast and breaking was difficult! Alas, I only fell on my bum ONCE!!! Quite pleased about that! Although, some might say that I wasn't trying hard enough! ;o)

So, after lesson, decided to retun the skis: as I was not going to be skiing the day after ( I just knew it). So returning the skis was simple, but just as I got to the shop the skis slipped through my fingers and I cut my thumb. Quite deep! Blood was EVERYWHERE! Ask Eric. I have a witness!! I returned the skis and the guy in the shop gave me a plaster! So that was that.

As for the next day, Angela, Eric and I decided to go all the way up to Mont Fort (the highest point in Verbier). After a number of cable cars and gondolas, we get there, and it was COLD!!!!! So, gloves and hats come out, all round. It was truly beautiful up there. So calming and serene. I just love it!

Met up with everyone for lunch and then started our way back down. It takes a good 30-40 minutes in total for the journey down. I think it was 4-5 cable cars/gondolas.

The chalet was lovely. Just as you imagine a swiss chalet should be. All wooden and VERY creeky! ;o) The chalet people were really nice and Ron, the cook, was a really good cook! The meals and cakes he made all the time I was there was great. I am sure he continued to delight the rest of his guests after I left!

So, after 2 full days in the Alps it was time to go back home. Transfer company had booked me in for the 16th Feb and not 16th Jan, so the chalet reps drove me to the nearest main town and the company picked me up from there! Phew! I was worried that I was going to be late for plane. Flight went well, slept through most of it; and got back home around 5pm.

Enjoy the pictures.

A day out in Knole Park

Mick's team decided to go on a 6 mile hike! So, I said that sounds fun!!!! I know shocking! Me do exercise...

The weather was beautiful, a little crisp in the morning, warmed up nicely later on. We stopped off at the Tea Rooms in Knole Park and had lovely scones with clotted cream and jam! Yum! It was so good! But, just before that, we got yelled at by a posh woman on a horse becasue we decided to use the port-a-loos that were in the field. Apparently, they aren't for public use!!! I have know idea what made her come all the way to us to shout, it was so uncessary! Did she really prefer if we went IN the field???? It was really funny though!

Well, the walk went really well. There were lots of walking up and down hills, through muddy fields and a field full of sheep, and their bodily waste!!! Nice!

We got to the end finally and the view was amazing! Considering it was warm, the fog made it look like a mid winter's day. Well worth the walk.
