Michelle's Birthday Weekend in Paris

Bonjour! Yep, I have been to Paris and my french is c'est parfait! NOT!!!! hehehehe

We had spoken for so long about going to Paris, just us girls, and we kept putting it off. So, we decided we might as well celebrate Michelle's birthday there.

We took the Eurostar and met up with Iliana's cousin. Thank god we did, as she recommeded THE best place to have dinner! The Kong. It is a really cool bar and restaurant and it is on the roof of the building and it is covered by a glass dome! The best thing about it is that this place was used in Sex and th City. Carey met Petrovsky's ex-wife there for lunch! So, we were very happy! The food was delicious and, amazingly, reasonably priced! If this was London, our main course would have cost £50!!! We had the most yummy desert as well! I think it was a good place to celebrate Michelle's birthday!

We had such a wonderful weekend, just strolling around Paris and freezing our arses! Walked for ages on the Saturday from Notre Dame to Arc de Triumph! It was really nice. But, we were very unlucky that weekend with Taxis! There were LOADS whenever we didn't need them, but none or no free ones when we did! Our first night, we were all huddled under my umbrella getting soaked becuase of this curse!! ;o) We can laugh about it now, but we got pretty cold.

You'll see that there is a theme going on... cold weather! On Saturday, we decided that we'd go on one of the boat tours. So, we go to one of the stops and wait. There were loads of boats passing us, but none of them are stopping. There was no sign or indication that the stop was not being used, until we spoke to this couple that came after us to waot for the boat and they told us that the river has flooded some of the stops, so the boats aren't stopping at all of them! Doh! Until then, we hadn't even noticed how high the river was and that the steps were under the water! How silly of us! So, after about 20 minutes of standing by the river getting colder and colder, we decide to keep on moving!

Apart from the weather, everything was beautiful. Sunday was the best day, beautiful blue skies and crisp air! Didn't want to leave, but London was calling and we caught our train home!

We had some lovely food and lots of great memories! Thank you Michelle and Iliana for a great weekend with great company! Must do it again sometime...but in another country!

Winter break...in Prague!

Yep, we couldn;t wait to go somewhere else after Canada and NYC. So, Mick surprised me with a weekend break to Prague! Ahhh! Isn't that sweet! It was such a wonderful surprise!

We were worried about the cold, as they were having -10c temperatures and we don't have suitable clothing. So, we decided to layer ourselves with loads of clothes. It seemed to have worked, as neither one of us was THAT cold. We kep walking and gonig into shops, or cafe and having a nice warm drink. We had lovely food, I had beef goulash and dumplings! It was so yummy, that I had to have it again the next day! ;o)

It is such a beautiful city! Very untouched my modern buildings, in the centre at least. The snow gave it a charm, that would have been missing if it wasn't there in winter. When Mick went to Prague in the summer, with his mates, he loved it so much and new that it would be lovely to go there in the winter too. and he was right!

It was a really wonderful break and I would recommend everyone to go there, in either season, it seems!

Wenceslas Square, the main hub of th city. Beautiful during the day and full of pimps and dug dealers at night! Nice! ;o) Posted by Picasa
